From constitutional lawyer to commercial lawyer to arbitrator and mediator

Jörg Risse, born in 1967, studied law in Heidelberg and Lausanne after completing a banking apprenticeship. He earned a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from the University of California, Berkeley (USA). He received his doctorate in constitutional law from the University of Heidelberg, graduating “summa cum laude.”

After being admitted to the bar in Germany and New York, he initially practiced in Dresden and subsequently spent many years in Frankfurt am Main, serving as a partner at the international law firm Baker McKenzie since 2002. Since 2026, he has been working as an arbitrator and mediator in his own law firm.

Jörg Risse private

Jörg Risse lives in Dreieich-Buchschlag near Frankfurt. He is the father of three children, plays tennis passionately (albeit badly) and – much better – chess. He is a "Century Traveler", South Africa fan and a member of the Friends of the German Literature Archive Marbach e.V. And: He carries "the eagle" in his heart.
